Dear Patients of Dr. Lewcun from Jefferson Hospital,
Unfortunately, Pennsylvania State regulations require the electronic prescribing of many medications. That means that your care is dependent upon your set up in our Electronic Medicare Records (EMR) system. Dr. Lewcun no longer has access to the Jefferson EMR system and is now an employee of Marc Kress MD & Associates.
The only way to be set up in our EMR is to have a first patient in person visit during which you sign off in that records system authorizing its use. Dr. Lewcun is only working here in our privately-owned practice 3 days per week. New patient visits are on a first-come/first-serve basis out of necessity. Demand for them is out pacing our ability to get everyone in as quick as they and we would like.
We understand that this is frustrating as Dr. Lewcun still feels like your beloved and valued personal doctor, but the truth is that he cannot actually treat you due to the constraints of the technology that has been forced upon doctors in the US until you go through the formality of establishing yourself with OUR PRACTICE. Additionally, your OLD records from Jefferson must be faxed to us BEFORE your first visit to 215-887-1392.
This means if you have an urgent need for a refill or medical issue and you have not yet been seen here, you must return to Jefferson where they can prescribe medications for you until you are established here with our practice and systems.
Dr. Lewcun cannot be interrupted during his shifts here, while he is learning our system and caring for patients. He cannot care for you over the phone. You must return to Jefferson or go to an Urgent Care until you have a scheduled “New Patient” appointment here in our practice.
Please hang in there with us. We are delighted to have such a caring and wonderful doctor join our well-respected and unique practice. We truly look forward to adding all of Dr. Lewcun’s patients to our family.
